Dental plaque is a soft, sticky film of bacteria that forms on teeth and along the gum line when food particles mix with bacteria in the mouth. If not cleaned properly, it can harden into tartar and lead to problems like Tooth Decay, bad breath, and gum issues. To remove plaque, brush your teeth twice daily using fluoride toothpaste and a soft toothbrush, making sure to clean all surfaces. Flossing daily helps remove plaque from between teeth where a brush cannot reach. Using an antibacterial mouthwash can reduce bacteria, while limiting sugary foods also helps. Regular dental visits ensure proper cleaning and long term oral health.
